Westlake uses 1:1 technology in grades 3-12. Elementary students use school-provided Chromebooks that remain in the classroom. Students in 7–12th grade must provide their own Chromebook.
Students entering 6th grade are provided with a set of classroom chromebooks to use at school. They will have homework assigned in Google Classroom, which requires the use of a Chromebook, laptop, or desktop computer at home. Families may wish to purchase a Chromebook through the school for their 6th grader to use at home.
Order Through Westlake
For 2024–25, Westlake will be offering a group Chromebook order. We encourage families who need a new Chromebook to use this option. Ordering through the school will make the set-up of your student’s Chromebook faster and easier.
Orders must be placed by June 30, 2024. Payment is due at the time of ordering.
Chromebooks will be shipped directly to the school. Students will be able to pick up their Chromebooks at Secondary Student Orientation on Thursday, August 1st, 2024.
PROVIDING YOUR OWN CHROMEBOOK:
New students and 7th graders who choose to provide their own Chromebook will be required to schedule a summer appointment for installing the school’s student management software on their Chromebook. Any previous user data will be wiped from the Chromebook at this time.
Due to the higher number of students enrolled in 7th–12th grade, all students must have their Chromebooks set up with the school’s management software prior to the first day of school.
