Curriculum
Westlake Christian Academy’s high school program is primarily college preparatory. The academic emphasis is to provide educational experiences with the rigor, breadth, and depth necessary for graduates to succeed in whatever post-secondary pursuits they desire. Consistent with our mission of discipleship, it is also our desire that graduates will have embraced a biblical worldview through our academic program. While preparing our students for any post-secondary experience they may choose, we intentionally encourage our graduates to consider higher education options which will continue to build and solidify their understanding of a biblical worldview.
The academic program is organized on a schedule of eight 45-minute classes. Credit is earned by semester; four credits per semester is the maximum course load (eight per year). The State of Illinois requires 880 hours of instructional time, which Westlake exceeds with more than 1,000 hours of annual instructional time.
Students have dual credit course options (courses that may be taken for high school + college credit OR just for high school credit). Dual credit courses vary by semester and are taken through Colorado Christian University.
